Is keeping your little ones entertained a constant battle? This charming wooden playhouse might be the answer! It provides a world of imaginative play without taking up a ton of space in your backyard. We purchased it from a company Backyard Discovery, but there are multiple options available from Costco, Walmart, Target etc.
Why a Playhouse?
We were faced with the same challenge: how to keep our kids busy without needing constant supervision. The solution? A backyard playhouse!
So far, it’s been a huge hit. The kids love playing “shop” in their little tower, or whizzing down the slide whenever the urge strikes.
Choosing the Right Playhouse
Given our limited backyard space, we opted for a smaller model to avoid feeling cluttered. We also prioritized a natural look and feel, so we chose a playhouse made of wood. It looked beautiful upon assembly, and even had a wonderful wood scent straight from the box!
Assembly Considerations
Speaking of the box, this playhouse comes in pieces and requires assembly. A decent level of handyman skills is helpful for putting this beauty together. The numerous wooden planks, screws, and architectural details can turn assembly into a weekend project. Alternatively, there’s a (fairly pricey) assembly service available. We decided to tackle it ourselves for some DIY fun!
Tips for Choosing Your Playhouse:
- Size: Consider both the overall yard space and the size of your children. You don’t want the playhouse to overcrowd your yard, and bigger kids might need a larger playhouse to comfortably play inside.
- Material: There are wooden and plastic options available. Wood provides a natural aesthetic, while plastic is generally more lightweight and requires less maintenance.
- Color: Choose a color that complements your backyard and appeals to your children’s tastes.
- Price: Playhouses come in a variety of price ranges, so consider your budget when making your selection.
